The Autocar Company of Ardmore, Pennsylvania built cars from 1901 to 1911 (trucks only after 1911). Autocar produced the first multi-cylinder shaft drive car in America.
By 1905 gearshift, clutch, spark and throttle were all controlled from the steering column. Exceedingly well made, they were initially advertised for the negative reasons that “they cannot blow up or burn up.”
