Self-portrait

The Neo-classical school of Cádiz stood out thanks to the driving force which the establishment of the Escuela de Nobles Artes represented, which subsequently became an Academy. The painters Manuel Montano and Victoria Martín, from Cádiz, perfectly illustrate the main characteristics of Neo-classical painting: linear drawing and the achromaticism of the colour. This self-portrait of Victoria Martín is at the level as some of the best French works, from the school of David, of the period.
