Avelar Brotero

This is a bronze reproduction of the original terracotta study and the represented is Avelar Brotero. On the reverse it has an inscription with the signature of António Soares dos Reis with the dedication to his friend Diogo José de Macedo Júnior.
Soares dos Reis, remarkable Portuguese sculptor of the 19th century, allied the mastery of classical technique to a symbolic intimist theme. In his work we can enjoy the synthetic treatment and abstraction of shapes.
