View of a large second line parade showing members of the Avenue Steppers led by Richard "King" Matthews (1950-2010) parading in the Central City neighborhood, in the vicinity of Second and Loyola Streets. The Avenue Steppers organized as a marching club in October of 1981 and are shown celebrating the "Blessing of the Banner" at their first annual parade, June 6, 1982. The all male club members are shown wearing matching three-piece suits and have their matching bowler style hats on the tips of their canes which are raised in the air.
