When there were prints of religious deities or gurus encased in the panels of a sandook, there is a sentiment of sacredness associated with it. These prints are often worshipped. The top panel in this sandook had a print of a Sikh guru encased in glass which was garlanded. Red sacred threads were tied to the handles as an auspicious symbol.
