This handsome axe was made from the bone of a steppe bison. It was fished up out of the North Sea. In the Mesolithic (Middle Stone Age), the North Sea was an expanse of land with large lakes. It was a region populated by large mammals, an ideal hunting ground for Mesolithic tribes. This axe has a sharp tip and a hole for the wooden handle.
