The receiver is suitable for primary and secondary reception with one or 2 oscillating circuits, and was designed for use on ships where space was extremely limited. The receiving coils were therefore wound into a kidney shape in order to avoid unwanted couplings in what was then an extremely compact design. The wave range was between 500 and 20,000 feet, which was remarkable for such a compact device.
