Robert Schumann publicized this lithograph in 'Neue Zeitschrift für Musik' in autumn 1840: "A delightful lithograph of this painting (Haussmann's 1746 portrait of Bach) has now been produced by the artist Mr Schlick in Leipzig ... it is a stately, rather large print and is far preferable to all previous portraits of Bach."
