Actually it was a matter of removal. After they took the final shot of the movie “Das Boot” directed by Wolfgang Petersen, the body of the 55 meter submarine was ready for the scrap dealer. Until two young employees of the Bavaria Film Studios had the great idea to show the submarine model as part of a guided tour through the Studio site.
