Using language as the fabric of creating narrative space is an important trend in Michał Frydrych's art. The Back to the Future installation designed for the space of the Bunkier Sztuki Exhibition Pavilion is consisent with it. Artist's aim was interaction with the audience. The composition is made of words, which, depending on the viewer's point of view create independent pictures enabling the appearance and disappearance of objects, relations and stories. What interests the artist is how combining a word and pictorial elements – light, colour, shape and form – affects our subconsciousness and interpretation of the message. Thus Frydrych alludes to the 1950s trend of concrete poetry, in which the typographical effect was as important as the message.

Michał Frydrych (b.1980) pursues painting, is the author of objects and installations in public space. Graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He also studied art at the Universität der Künste in Berlin and philosophy at the Univeristy of Warsaw.
