Obverse: Winged head of Medusa with tie below chin, facing to the right in three-quarters view, countermarked with a winged bust of Nike. Reverse: At the center, a rose with an eight-pointed star on the left and a bud to the right within a border of dots. Above the rose, in Greek: [ΓΟΡΓ]ΟΣ ["Gorgos", after a Rhodian magistrate who minted coins in the end of the 3rd century B.C. to the beginning of the 2nd century B.C.] Flanking the rose, in Greek: Ρ; Ο ["R, O" for Rhodes.] Large die flaw evident on reverse.

Part of a Rhodian-type coin issue that may have been struck in Gortyna on Crete during the Cretan War (205-200 B.C.)
