The embroidery technique of split stitches was used for the floral patterns on the pouch while chain stitches applied for the hem. Named for splitting one normal strand of threads into several up to a dozen fine flosses, split stitches fall into the category of straight stitches. Before being used for split stitches, the threads need to get smooth and flossy first by going through a procedure of sizing with a mixture of rice milk and honey locust, and then would be used by smaller than regular embroidery needles. On this item, exquisite botanic patterns were created in the above mentioned steps with lustrous and smooth silk threads, making the item full of vividness.
