Back’em up, Buy Extra Bonds

A drawing of General Dwight D. Eisenhower entices people to purchase bonds in this World War II era poster. To finance wars governments often put more money into circulation. However, the increased cash flow leads to inflation. The purchase of war bonds by civilians helps take some of that additional money back out of circulation while still making it available to the military.

Like other U.S. states and regions across the globe, Kansans have served and died in war. The Kansas Museum of History aims to remember them through what they left behind. To see more from our collection please visit: https://www.kshs.org/kansapedia/wars/14569
