A statue of Bacchus, inspired by Praxiteles’ wine-pouring satyr, found in the residential area of Tarraco. It was placed in a private context.
It is one of the few sculptures preserved from this part of the city, all of which are characterised by a particularly elaborate manufacture. The theme represented by these statues is a common part of the ornamentation of Roman villas and urban houses.
