A circular badge bearing a black and white picture of a coastal road over which an aeroplane is flying. There are buildings in the background, and the badge bears the words 'Victor Harbor Sports' 'Jan 1, 1920' and 'Atkinson & Co. Makers Adelaide'. The badge consists of printed paper between a tin base and a celluloid cover.
This badge is a souvenir from a regatta and sports day that was held in Victor Harbour, the proceeds of which went to the Soldiers Memorial Area. It featured two exhibitions of flying by Captain Butler. This and other associated badges are a rich source of evidence on the material and cultural history of fundraising and sporting organisations in Australia. The symbols, colours and mottoes used on the badges themselves also express ideas about the values and identity that Australians held in the early to mid-twentieth century, particularly during wartime.
