This extremely beautiful plan was drafted by John Jeffrey O’Donnaghue, in his signature rich, yet elegant, style. During Brigadier General Thomas Munro’s campaign to subdue the Southern Maratha territories, on February 22, 1818, he quickly secured the surrender of the very large, castle-like fort of Bagracotta (today Bagalkot), strategically located on the Ghatabrabha River, near its confluence with the Krishna River.
