This dress was made as a David Jones Couture piece in 2005. It is made from calico with silver gota and wire work, embroidery, sequins, beads and Swarovski crystals. The designers said, "The silver materials are all real. You can see the tarnish on the gota ribbon." Gota is a narrow ribbon woven on looms with a cotton warp and metal weft, originally real gold and silver. It uses a yarn that is pressed and rolled to flatten and polish it, before it is heat pressed or crimped to add relief patterns.
