In 2013, a group of architects, engineers and economists started work to improve local dwellings in Tepetzintan, a community north of Puebla where there is an abundance of bamboo. The first step involved environmental, cultural, and architectonic research. After, the team held training and participative design workshops. Experts taught the community how to use bamboo as a construction material and coordinated the design and construction of a model house. The house, made of bamboo shafts and prefabricated components, adapts the local housing typology to modular and progressive construction processes.
