Artist Information: Min Yeong-hwan came from the Yeoheung Min clan. Min passed the state examination for appointment to civil office in 1878. He served in various government posts including the Minister of the Board of Rites in 1887, Minister of the Board of War from 1888 to 1889, and Minister of the Board of Punishments and magistrate of Hanseong (Seoul today) in 1893. He took his own life when the Treaty of 1905 was signed. Min was awarded the Order of Merit for National Foundation in 1962.
