This workplace banner was displayed in Orbiter Processing Facility-3 at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, the servicing bay for the Space Shuttle orbiter Discovery during the last ten years of the Space Shuttle program. From the early years of human spaceflight efforts, NASA and its contractors developed a variety of posters, banners, pins, and other materials to foster morale and workplace quality in the workforce. Teamwork, quality work, and safety were main themes. For the Space Shuttle program, which required regular, long-term maintenance for the reusable orbiters, this was a particularly salient message. This banner illustrates one way that NASA as an organization encouraged workers to see themselves as a part of a team that is collectively responsible for the success of the Space Shuttle program. When Discovery was being transferred from NASA to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in 2012, the Discovery delivery prepartion team from NASA hand delivered this banner to the Museum so that it could join the national collection along with the orbiter.
