Suffrage banner of the Actresses' Franchise League. With hanging masks of comedy and tragedy framed by wreaths and ribbons stencilled in the AFL colours of pink and green.
Funded by Lady Meyer and designed and executed by Clemence Housman this banner was first carried in the Coronation Procession of 1911.
Formed in 1908 the Actresses' Franchise League was open to anyone involved in the theatrical profession who supported female suffrage. The organisation attracted both militants and non-militants.
