The artistically created association flag of the Barbara Fraternity of Schiffweiler shows a wounded miner on one side which appears before Saint Barbara, the patron saint. The Holy Family is depicted on the other side. Christian and profane symbols merge to form a symbiotic statement. The brotherhood founded in 1857 has two historical flags. One is dated back to the year 1870 and the flag that is depicted here is from 1893. It was consecrated at St. Martin parish church in Schiffweiler on 28 May 1893.
