To find new customers, the street barbers used to walk on the beaches, on the quays, on the streets, in the public squares or around the big workshops. In Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon, barber shops had the same interior arrangement and exterior appearance. But in Brazil the barber were almost always an African-Brazilian or at least a "mulatto".
