Barbie at 70

Sponsler was inspired by the effects of barbie and the aesthetics and message about women's bodies and expectations that influenced young girls. This piece depicts an interpretation of what barbie might look like at the age of 70, commenting on the reality and and myths of beauty. This process was accomplished by layering 2 negatives, 1 of a barbie doll and the other a 70 year old woman. the result is a surreal hybridization of the two.
