"This Barcelona harbour view is a Santiago Rusiñol (Barcelona, 1861 – Aranjuez, 1931) youth work and one of his few marine style paintings. It shows his teachers Tomàs Moragas and Joan Roig I Soler influence by the subject and also its treatment.

As you can read in the inscription “To my beloved grandfather”, Rusiñol gave this painting to one of his grandfathers as a gift. Although we don’t really know to which on the two was dedicated, as there are different opinions about it.
According to Miquel Utrillo, who wrote about this in his “Anecdotal of Cau Ferrat history” it was addressed to Jaume Rusiñol, his paternal grandfather. While Joaquim Folch I Torres, responsible for the Cau Ferrat transformation to a public museum, considered that it was addressed to Albert Prats, the maternal grandfather. He based his opinion on the fact that the painting came from a Prats family legacy."
