Large abstract work with impasto multi-coloured gestural markings employed to create skeletal forms in composition. Large skull at right of centre at bottom of canvas. Blue background predominant.

A portion of the paint used in Bare Bones was purchased by the artist at a garage sale in suburban Canberra. The owner of the small tubes of paint, that were part of a rather extensive set of colours, expressed interest in the paint going to a good home as it had some sentimental meaning to her. Ben assured her he would put it to good use. Back in the studio he proceeded to create the thick multi coloured lines that make up the skeletal forms in the painting by squeezing the paint tubes onto the canvas out one by one. Taylor was pleased with the result and continued to imitate the process in subsequent paintings
