Starboard outboard profile of bark EVIE REED (b. by Blaisdell in Bath 1878) under full sail; painted for Bradstreet Rairden, commissioning master; on horizon is 4/m steamship and two other vessels; flying four signal flags and ensign; frame is carved wood in flower motif; Frame: 30 1/2" x 39". Evie Reed was built at Bath in 1878 by D. O. Blaisdell on the site that would later become the Percy & Small shipyard, now part of this Museum. Her first captain was Bradstreet Rairden; later his son Bradstreet S. Rairden took her over. Bradstreet S. left her at Batavia for health reasons, and ended up staying there to raise his family.
