The construction of a coal-powered power station at Creekmouth was delayed by the First World War. 'Barking A', shown to the left of the photograph with the two sets of linear chimneys, opened in 1925, and 'Barking B' followed in 1939. The construction of a third, 'Barking C', was completed after this photograph was taken, in 1954. All three were demolished following decommissioning in the 1970s.
