Diorama depicting the disaster that took place on the Barranco de Bellverriver river in Castellón. On September 14, 1850, a stagecoach was swept away by a flood following heavy rainfall. Two members of the Civil Guard, Pedro Ortega and Antonio Jimeno, shed some of their kit to go to its aid. The stagecoach was swallowed up by the water three times, and the last time, the two Civil Guards lost their lives trying to help. This was considered the first humanitarian act in which corps personnel died in service.
