Basket Trap

Communities who live along coastal rivers use split bamboo interwoven with reeds to make these hexagonal fish traps. The trap is set at night using bait such as meat, to lure fish mostly tilapia into the trap. Once they enter they cannot escape. The trap is weighted with stones to keep it from floating.
