Nairobi, Kenya

Basket for holding seeds with inverted funnel shaped opening. Made by the men but used mainly by the women to store grain and seeds in the hut. When the basket is full to the top of the basket it is stitched across. Made from "Miaa" strips from the Mlala (Doum Palm). These are woven into one long strip which is then joined up by stitching back and forth with another Miaa strip.
