Bathseba

This remarkable painting was created by an unknown southern Dutch master. It reflects the cool style of an international court art centered on Florence, Fontainebleau and Paris. The realistically reproduced costumes of the people behind allow the picture to be dated to around 1560/70; the objects depicted make it a cultural-historical document.
