  • Description: Batistério. Igreja de São Miguel, RS, an image of the baptistery of São Miguel das Missões. Located in Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil, the mission was built between 1735–45 by Jesuits missionaries and charged chiefly with the conversion of the Guaraní and the protection of the Portuguese slave traders known as the Bandeirantes. Batistério. Igreja de São Miguel, RS includes evocative, ghostly forms in the background.
