The first part of Battersea Power Station, seen here in this photograph of 1933, was begun in 1929. When it was completed in 1935, the 'A' station was the largest power station in Europe. The second part of the power station was not completed until 1956. With its four massive chimneys, it has become one of London's and the River Thames' most recognisable landmarks.
