Building: The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is one of Charlotte, North Carolina’s most inspired and inspiring spaces. Designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta, the museum’s architecture displays a sculptural power that connects to the dynamic art inside it. Pictured: The first piece of art that was installed in the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, “Wall Drawing #995 Color Geometric Form (outlined), by the late American Artist Sol LeWitt. The massive work – 23 feet by 5 inches tall by 27 feet and 5 inches wide – greets visitors as they enter the lobby with bold and vibrant blue, red, yellow, purple ,and green areas. This piece is a “site-specified adaptation” of an existing design by the late LeWitt and is currently on loan, courtesy of the Sol LeWitt Estate, to fit the Bechtler lobby.
