The Maharaja of Mysore Saloon - Interior Bed Room

The Maharaja of Mysore Saloon was built in 1899 at Banglore workshops of Mysore State Railway on the underframe supplied by M/s Hurst Nelson of U.K. This saloon was a part of a special three coach train used by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar of Mysore and his family. The other two coaches of this train namely the Maharani's coach and a dininng cum kitchen car was preserved at Rail Museum at Mysore.

This perticular exhibit is a wooden bodied eight wheeler having a steel underframe and has a provision for vestibule system to enable it to be connected with rest of the train. This coach could be run on both broad gauge (5'6'') as well as meter gauge by changing bogies.

Items of wooden panels, furniture, decoration works including lighting and electrical work is conserved and restored to safeguard their life and look as well.
