Wide stripes in different patterns form the expressive ornament of this single piece, high-necked gown. White stripes with brown palmettos alternate with grey shaded stripes printed with small coloured flowers. The bodice, with rear hook and eye closure, is worked according to the fabric. A four pleated lapel with colour coordinated ornamental trim run together in the short pointed waist and emphasizes the V-shaped configuration. The cloth is also sewn diagonally on the long bloused sleeves. These end in ribbed cuffs with hook and eye closures. Short sleeves with pintucks and ornamental trim, so-called Jockey’s, adorn the shoulders. The wide skirt is tightly gathered and falls into a dome shape. The dress is fully lined.
