Beethoven Frieze: Empty section of plaster (Panel 8, right sidewall)

On the right-hand wall of the Beethoven Frieze, humanity’s yearning for happiness finds fulfillment in poetry, portrayed as a female figure with a lyre. This is followed by an empty section under which, in the original exhibition layout, an opening gave a view of Klinger’s Beethoven sculpture.
