Renovation work on the Ossolineum edifice began in the autumn of 1946 and lasted until 1951. The reconstruction was led by the architect and engineer Bronisław Bonné and Tadeusz Wróbel, a professor at Wrocław University of Technology. The renovation mainly involved the repair of demolished ceilings, roofing and glazing. The next phase involved rebuilding the ruined interiors and adapting the building for library purposes.
