BEING TIME performance: a fallen petrified tree, Turkana, The Rift Vlley, Kenya.
Annual rings are clearly discernible on the petrified stumps of the Turkana Basin. The petrified tree which participated in the “Listening to the Rift Valley” project has many stories to tell. Kenyan paleobotanist Dr. Rahab Kinyanjui explores this prehistoric memory. Artists Olga Kisseleva and James Mweu celebrated this age old memory and the instance of connection by making the pertrified tree the centre of their BEING TIME performance.
