Saitama prefecture , Japan

This haniwa was collected from a ditch surrounding the Inariyama Kofun. It is believed that haniwa lined the ditches surrounding the kofun when they were first built, but fell into the ditches over time. Because the cylinder opens into a shape like a bell or a blooming morning glory flower, this type of haniwa is called bell-shaped or morning glory-shaped. This haniwa has a light yellow-orange color, and hints of red remain on the outside and the rim.
