Bell with wooden bellframe

1598-1877

Churches Conservation Trust

Churches Conservation Trust
London, United Kingdom

This bell is mounted within a bell frame – a wooden structure which allows the bell to swing in an arc of 360 degrees. A rope runs down from the wheel which allows the bell to be rung. St Andrew's has a total of six bells, dating from 1598 to 1877. The upkeep of older bells and addition of new ones show the importance of the bells to the church and local community through the centuries.
