Bellevue House National Historic Site

Built to house the wealthy and powerful of Canada's first capital, Bellevue House represents the 1840s colonial system of class and privilege.


Parks Canada has been working with Indigenous groups, stakeholders and other experts to make sure that we present Macdonald, and the impacts of the decisions taken and institutions created under his leadership, from the perspective of many voices.


Bellevue House is a large white Victorian-style building with green moldings surrounded by trees. Visitors can learn to brew non-alcoholic spruce beer from a costumed interpreter.
