Carpet weaving was once a vehicle for political and feminist ideas. These works, with their visual and tactile beauty, have attracted the attention of the global art world in recent years. Creative approaches have begun to shift back toward craftsmanship and ornamentalism. Pae White proposed the concept of "new art of handicrafts." Its aim was to look back on the history of the art of carpet weaving and to try to break the stereotype of carpets as an inferior, outdated art form. It also aspired to demonstrate the qualities of textiles as an artistic medium.
