Enzo Bassotto (1939) and Raffaello Bassotto (1946) began working together as photographers in the late 1970s. Since 1980, after establishing the Photographic Archive of the City of Verona, they have devoted themselves mainly to the production of photographic books and have exhibited in Italy and abroad. Their work is structured on two fronts: on the one hand, the investigation of social and cultural phenomena, and on the other, "portraits" of landscapes, especially urban and industrial ones. Well-known and esteemed figures on the Italian photographic scene, the Veronese Enzo and Raffaello Bassotto have created a very special model of attention to places. From the industrial suburbs to the archaeology of the recent past, and to naturalistic panoramas, their photographs exemplify analytical sensitivity turned to everyday realities.
