Amelia says: "When I saw Tom Croft's initiative to offer free portraits to the frontline workers of the NHS I had to get involved straight away. To me this felt like such a great way for myself as a painter to give back to those who are putting themselves at risk for the health of the country.
I painted the portrait of Bernadette and JP who both work in the NHS. I was struck by Bernadette's positivity and her enthusiasm for wanting the piece to be something her children could look upon and feel a sense of positivity for the future. I feel absolutely honoured to have painted this portrait of Bernadette and her husband, JP and thank them for all their dedication and hard work during the Coronavirus pandemic."
Bernadette and JP say: "We are both bowled over firstly by Amelia’s amazing offer to paint us, and then by the beautiful piece she has created. The past few months have been an absolute blur- in some ways it feels like we lived a weird dream. Amelia’s painting conveys the feelings of the hope and family care we clung to so tightly. We hope the piece will continue to be an evocative piece for our family as our children grow up."
