The artist metaphorically indicates the indescribable, unspeakable, and absolute internal experience. The site-specificity is emphasized when the object and the space are emerged as one. An audience experiences various layers of senses dependant on their own experiences, memories, and perspectives.

  • Artist's Note: I have worked on one theme. The series called, “Hidden Emotions,” is a set of experiments and investigations about the potentiality of material in relation to an interaction of light and matter. They start by reassembling many kinds of films that were already put on screen or fell into disuse, whether the are live film documentaries, or a black and white ones. Then, by introducing an artificial factor of light and combining it with the dynamic flow of the light and static image in the films, it leads to the reconfirmation of vitality in film images. In this process, we can say that the film images are transformed into plastic language, and thereby ultimately into fine art. Such a result can be achieved through the act of discriminating the techniques of fine art in those of film and video, which is signified in re-editing my emotions and imaginations on the new images created by cutting, pasting, and rearranging tapes. This is making use of the flatness and transparency of film and, say, commanding the language of fine arts. In this way, my work can express what I think art is breaking from the context of film. There exist many stories in the state of stillness which has diverse histories, backgrounds, and people in my work. The condensed memories contained respectively in 35 mm, 16 mm, 8 mm film will grow into a new kind of aesthetic language: the contents of them will be re-edited according to my communication, and become inhabited in my language, finding a new realm, where I would like to discover hidden emotions.
