A HEALTHY HOLIDAY FOR TOWN WORKERS.
MJH/MEG
For their annual fortnight's holiday, many people who work, or live, in the Towns, choose to spend a "holiday with pay" at one of the Volunteer
Agricultural Camps situated in many parts of the country. One such
camp, in picturesque rural surroundings, is Oxenford Farm, Elstead (Surrey), which is run by the County of Surrey Agricultural Executive Committee. The volunteers live at the camp and, during the day, spend a healthy happy life working on the nearby farms.
PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS: Having worked up a tremendous appetite working on Mr. Secrett's Farm at Milford (Surrey), these four girls, spending their holiday at the Volunteer Agricultural Camp at Oxenford Farm, Elstead, tuck into their "elevenses" with gusto. Left to right, they are Joyce Brass (19) of Winchmore Hill (
London); Florence Hubbard (27) of North Acton (London); Betty Kendall (21) from Birkenhead; and Phil Rafter (22) of Rock Ferry (Cheshire).
