Hei (Neck ornament)

Hei. Neck ornament. Consisting of groups of white, pink, purple, brown, and striped coloured, spiral shaped pūpū (shells) bored and threaded onto cotton thread. The threaded pūpū are possibly sewn into a cloth fabric base. The pūpū have been arranged to form a pattern consisting of white coloured pūpū that alternate with groups of purple, pink, brown-coloured and striped pūpū.
