Black leather bible with gold cross on front, words 'Holy Bible' on spine, pages are gold gilded, faded gold coloured marker ribbon. This bible was owned by Joseph Lyons and used by him when he was sworn in as Prime Minister in 1938 by Governor-General Gowrie. It was passed from Lyons to his Private Secretary Franz Schneider. Inscribed by Gowrie and includes signatures of F. Schneider, Anne Schneider and Joan McCrone.
